Is this one of those website scams?
Fair question — you probably get those calls weekly. Those ask for money for something you can’t see. Here the finished site exists before money is ever mentioned: you get a working preview, then a free month live on your own domain, and you pay only if you keep it.
Who’s behind this?
A small business called Upgrade the Old Web that does one thing: rebuilding outdated websites for local businesses. We work remotely from Israel — which is exactly why the site gets built first, so there’s something real to look at instead of a promise from a stranger. And we’re small enough that the person who replies to you is the person who builds your site.
What do I have to do at my end?
Post your link. If you go live later, you accept two email invitations — one for your Google profile, one for the panel your domain sits in — and I handle everything else. No technical work at your end, ever.
Will this mess with my email?
No. Going live changes only the two records that point your website; the records that carry your email are never touched. That’s also what makes the free month safe — reverting is the same two records.
We get all our work by word of mouth. Why bother?
Word of mouth is the best way to get work, and this doesn’t replace it. It’s for the moment after the recommendation — when someone looks you up on their phone before calling. That first impression is currently your old site.
Who maintains it afterwards?
